Second time doing this hike. There are tape markers sprinkled throughout to confirm you’re on the right path. This is a board ridge so over all it is pretty mellow hiking - nothing that is scary. Porcupine ridge is north neighbor to much more popular Wasootch ridge with 2 ridges being separated by (south fork of) Porcupine creek. E ridge, slightly shorter features much class 3 and 4 with three beautiful pitches of 5.7 high on the route. Gorgeous views and a great trail. Pretty steady climb with fairly decent views of the mountain ranges around, Wasootch Creek to Baldy Pass via Porcupine Trail, Hummingbird Plume Lookout Loop via Troll Falls Trail. The seemingly forested ridge between the two forks of Porcupine Creek is a fun trip for experienced off-trail hikers. Mainly because it’s one of the best larch hikes in all of the Canadian Rockies. The way to the incline portion of the trail is a bit hard to figure out but essentially - take the trail along the river to the bridge and literally, right at the end, go left down the bank and follow the trail.
